Do It Yourself! – Home videos and coffee
10.02.2010
As the new recording of Braces In My Brain got out from mastering, Simo was so excited about the song that he decided to make a video for it. After all, there wasn't too much of our material available in YouTube and that’s a shame.
The first version Simo put together was made out of movie clips and short video clips filmed on a handy cam… so it wasn’t very professional (fun to do, though). We uploaded the video to the tube, and proudly started putting out the word of our new cool music video. And what happened? About half an hour after releasing the video, Simos sister (a huge HIM fan) called to say that we had remade the Join Me video by HIM. FFFUUUU***!! Simo had used exactly the same movie clips that are used on the HIM video, as Join Me happens to be on the sound track…
So we needed to think of something else for the video. Simo had some ideas of brainwashing and Clockwork Orange –type of scenes, and called up some actors he knew. Saku proved to be perfect for the job, and also had the time for shooting the video. Zouwi (who can make ANYTHING happen if means getting and using some tech gadgets and gizmos) arranged a studio for us, and also promised to work as the camera man.
Day one of the production started sunny and freezing cold. Simo went to the studio with Zouwi, and prepared the set for the shoot. Saku arrived a bit later, and everything was ready… except we didn’t have any coffee. DAMN! So a quick run to the nearby store to get coffee, some sandwiches and a few packs of cigarettes, and we were good to go.
After a long day of shooting, drinking coffee, and playing with the smoke machine, we had enough material filmed. Time to go home, get some sleep, and wake up fresh for a long day of editing. Day two was spent staring the computer screen like a geek, but by the end of the day the video was done and all ready to go public. So, ladies and gentlemen, here it is: Braces In My Brain – the video!
